Our History: It All Started with a Woman’s Vision

TIMELINE:
1966:
The ASI parents endorse Sister Thérèse Marie's vision of an all-girl high school.
1966:
A Board of Trustees of six parents appoints Sister Thérèse Marie as the first principal, and Colegio San Ignacio for Girls is established.
The Jesuit Fathers of CSI allow the Sisters the use two of the CSI's basement classrooms.
The Jesuit Fathers of CSI donate six acres of land while the Board of Trustees secures financing for the new school's facilities.
1968:
The Sisters undertook the school's governance and changed the name Colegio San Ignacio for Girls to Academia María Reina.
1969:
Academia María Reina's new facilities are inaugurated.
1978:
In the best interests of its students, AMR adds grades 7th and 8th to its program of studies.
1994:
The Jesuit Fathers transfer the deed for the six acres of land occupied by the school to the Sisters.
